Asuria celebrates Western Sydney Jobs Festival success

2 minute read

This November, Asuria teamed up with Acadiam (formerly the Aboriginal Advancement Alliance) to give hundreds of job seekers the opportunity to find new jobs and training opportunities at our Western Sydney Jobs Festival.

Hundreds of eager job seekers attended the meet the employer event, where they were given the opportunity to explore traineeships and employment pathways in the Care, Construction, Hospitality, Retail and Logistics sectors.

Building up to the event, Asuria worked with Acadiam to host three engaging Industry taster webinars to allow job seekers to gain early insights into the Care, Construction and Business Services industries, featuring motivational stories and addresses from former job seekers and community leaders.

Taking place at Club Paceway in Penrith, employers including Ventia, Opal Healthcare and John Holland were in attendance, giving job seekers the chance to enhance their job prospects and make an immediate impression with on-the-spot interviews.

Jobs available on the day ranged from Apprentice Chef and Assistant Nurse, through to IT Technician and Lifestyle Assistant, and many more.

The event was also a gateway for job seekers to learn more about jobs and career paths, as well as receive free advice from experts on traineeships and apprenticeships, providing them with a clearer outlook on their options for the future.

Steve Mitchell, Project Manager for Ventia - TRECCA (First Nations Employment - a Ventia Initiative), summed up the event, saying:

“It was a fantastic day and great to get out and network with like-minded employers, employment service providers, and importantly people seeking employment. This event allowed hiring managers from Ventia, across various industries with different roles, to get to know these jobseekers and understand the challenges they face in seeking employment.

“I personally spoke with over ten jobseekers and am actively following up three of these and putting them in touch with vacancies at Ventia.”

Asuria would like to thank every job seeker and employer who came along for their energy and enthusiasm, while wishing the very best of luck to everyone setting off in new jobs and careers as a result.
