Buronga-based children’s mindfulness expert shortlisted for national new business award

4 minute read

A children’s mindfulness specialist based in Buronga, who made headlines earlier this year for knocking the viral hit ‘Baby Shark’ off the number one spot in the children's chart on iTunes, has been named as a runner-up for a national new business award, thanks to NEIS and Asuria.

Author, singer, songwriter, and children's entertainer, Lyndsie Storer, launched her business Beautiful Little Minds late last year, after discovering a gap in the market for personal development programs tailored for children.

“During the first year of the pandemic, I felt full of gratitude and my family found joy in such simple things and quality time was so important,” Lyndsie says. “I realised it wasn’t like this for all children, so I made it my mission to spread positivity and empower children.”

Lyndsie was one of eight finalists in the NNA NEIS Business Awards which took place on June 16th, having started her business in September 2021 after graduating from the New Business Assistance with NEIS program, delivered by Asuria.

The government program, set to be replaced by the new Self-Employment Assistance program from July 1st, looks to provide aspiring new business owners and entrepreneurs with the tools, confidence, and support to turn ideas into a sustainable source of income, just as Lyndsie did with Beautiful Little Minds.

“The encouragement, support and mentoring I received through NEIS gave me the motivation to continue, even when it felt unachievable,” Lyndsie says. “I learned so much through the training and am now confident that I can continue creating a business that can help empower children and make a difference.”

Lyndsie was supported in the course by Asuria NEIS Trainer/Mentor, Kathleen McPhee, who says, “Lyndsie was so full of talent and passion, all she really needed was the practical advice, encouragement, and support to put in place all those little things that make a big difference when it comes to transforming an idea into a business venture.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to see her achieve so much with Beautiful Little Minds in such a short space of time, and everyone at Asuria wishes her the best of luck at the upcoming awards.”

Since starting Beautiful Little Minds, Lyndsie’s first published book, ‘What Does It Mean To Be Grateful,’ reached number two on the bestseller list, and number one on Amazon’s hot new release category, while two of her songs reached number one on the iTunes charts for children's songs. She already has another six books waiting to be published, and has written another 12 songs.

On what being named one of Australia’s best new businesses has taught her, Lyndsie says, “I believe that celebrating every small success and being grateful for the support has really helped the business to succeed. Best of all, children are enjoying my music, which melts my heart. To know I am making a positive impact means the world.”
