Food insecurity is an issue facing many Australians today, and the Saint Elesa Food Initiative is working to change that.

The Saint Elesa Food Initiative is a united effort between the Greek Orthodox Parishes of Kogarah and Marrickville. Through a team of dedicated volunteers, this community-run organisation provides essential food relief to local communities in the form of home-cooked meals, and additionally pantry items, clothes, furniture and sanitary packs.

Yesterday, several Asuria team members, alongside Executive Chairman Con Kittos, rolled up their sleeves to volunteer in the kitchens as part of the Saint Elesa Food Initiative. The team assisted in preparing and packaging 400 hot, nutritious meals, which will aid people experiencing homelessness and food-insecurity in the local community.

Some of the key areas meals are distributed in include youth shelters, women’s refuges, social housing communities and vulnerable families.

Asuria has also donated $15,000 to the Philoptonos Society of Kogarah to support the continued efforts of this Initiative.
