Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

*While there are no pre-requisite for this course, participants must take the language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) assessment. This will help us identify areas where you might need additional support during your studies.

 

Delivery

The training program is delivered with comprehensive trainer support to provide a rich and engaging learning experience.

The training program is delivered over 20 weeks. All students must attend both classroom sessions for theory and practical sessions held in the kitchen and restaurant.

Classes are held as below:

  • Duration: 20 weeks
  • Class Times: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Locations and Start Dates:
    • Launceston - Fridays
      Starts 25th July 2025
    • Hobart - Mondays and Wednesdays
      Starts 21st July 2025

Put theory into practice through 12 service periods, serving real customers in real settings.

What you need before starting the course

To undertake this course, you will need:

  • To begin this course, you will need a USI. For more information on USI, go to: usi.gov.au It is a government requirement that participants undertaking Nationally Recognised Training in Australia have a unique student identifier (USI).
  • You need the below personal equipment for practical sessions:
    • Enclosed non-slip shoes (no open-toe footwear)
    • T-shirt (no buttons)
    • Long pants (no skirts/dresses for safety)

Course Cost

  • Government funding may be available for eligible participants in Tasmania
  • If you are not eligible for government funding the course can be delivered as a Fee for Service program across all States. We can organise a payment plan with you to cover the cost of the course.
