Supporting Hotel Etico's 400km Long Run to Inclusion

3 minute read

For too many young people with disability, meaningful employment remains out of reach. It’s a reality that Hotel Etico has been working hard to change — and its CEO, Andrea Comastri, is taking that mission to the road in an ambitious way.

Andrea is currently undertaking the Long Run to Inclusion, a remarkable challenge that will see him cover more than 400km to raise vital funds for Hotel Etico’s training and employment programs for young people with disability.

Asuria was proud to sponsor stage four of the run, a demanding 32km stretch from Western Sydney International Airport to Camden Valley. With temperatures reaching 30 degrees, it was a tough day on the road, but Andrea’s determination and commitment to the cause carried him through.

Long Run 5
The Long Run to Inclusion is more than a physical endurance challenge. Each kilometre represents a step towards expanding opportunities for people with disability to access meaningful employment. The funds raised through the run will help Hotel Etico continue its work creating real training and career pathways, supporting more young people with disability to build independent and fulfilling futures.

Since 2022, Hotel Etico has trained and employed 50 young people, with 86% of graduates going on to secure ongoing employment in the tourism and hospitality industry — a powerful example of the impact inclusive employment programs can have.

Long Run 6Asuria has been a longtime partner of Hotel Etico, supporting its mission to provide training and employment pathways for young people with disability. Hotel Etico is the world’s first social enterprise hotel of its kind, helping participants develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to build meaningful careers.

Reflecting on the purpose behind the Long Run to Inclusion, Andrea emphasised the importance of creating real employment opportunities for people with disability:
“We know that people with disability have less of a chance of finding employment, and we strongly believe employment is one of the main keys to independence, a dignified life, and inclusion. It provides freedom, an income, a sense of participation in the community, and it changes other people’s lives. We see our trainees and graduates as being agents of change for the community: everyone who comes to Hotel Etico experiences disability in a work setting. While our work helps our trainees and graduates, it also helps society to change.”

Long Run 7Asuria is proud to stand alongside Hotel Etico and support important initiatives that champion inclusion and opportunity.
