Team Maroubra doing us proud

2 minute read

An exciting week lies ahead for everyone here at PeoplePlus – particularly for our team in Maroubra.

Led by our Branch Manager Malcolm Quigg (Left), our team has been nominated for the Innovation in Indigenous Employment award at the 2018 NESA Awards for Excellence.

Their nomination recognises the employment services professionals and organisations who find work for Indigenous Australians.

Malcolm and the team at Maroubra have recently worked on various programs and initiatives which have been well documented by the media and covered through various feature stories throughout the year.

Malcolm was instrumental in his work for the East Coast Passage & Maritime Program (top right). This initiative saw 11 indigenous men gain valuable hands-on training and experience while sailing along the East Coast of Australia and are now looking to kick-start a career in the Maritime Industry.

We also documented the path to the employment of Rodney (bottom right) – who worked closely with Team Maroubra and our partners at Babana and Annecto in working through various barriers to secure employment.

These examples highlight the innovation and first-class servicing which has led to outstanding outcomes for Indigenous Australians. The winner of this award will be announced this Wednesday at the 2018 NESA National Conference Gala Awards Dinner in Brisbane.

Congratulations again to Malcolm and the team at Maroubra, this is truly a ringing endorsement of the exceptional work that you do day in and day out.
